The Phoenix Chair

Fall, fall again to the sound
of the drums
Marching to the call
March, march ahead to the
abyss of misperception
To calculated illusions

Create, create a deep pitfall
A future so illustrious
The most crazed painter
could not envision

Make strokes of your every
depression
Each stroke leading farther
away
From life
From contact

Go ahead and erect your
mountains
So stern and steady yet
desolate
Craft only to sit
On the lone Phoenix chair

Sit and enjoy the view
Look down at the one’s you
have crushed
Smile at their demise

Wreak your fortunate
frustration
And raise the cup
No one will toast to.
